Meeting with Anne Lacaton, The impossible freeze-frame
Main Article Content
Abstract
On 14 May 2012, the Free University of Brussels and its Faculties honoured seven personalities with the title of Doctor honoris causa, including Anne Lacaton, proposed by the Faculty of Architecture.
Anne Lacaton's appointment to this title was not in doubt, given the quality of her work with Jean-Philippe Vassal, which spans the fields of science, art and politics, the very fields targeted by the award. It was supported by the entire Faculty of Architecture. The debate that led to it generated an adjacent, and indeed fertile and relevant, discussion on the question of the image. The Faculty's commitment to this choice, the first in its short history, is a communication fact in which it puts forward one of its first public images. What links could exist between a media event and this distinctive course of action that the Faculty wished to recognise and have recognised?
